T Black Aviation offers Aviation Ground Schools, Flight Training, Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) and Inspection Authorization (IA) Certifications, Maintenance and Maintenance Training. We are authorized to give all FAA and FCC, and NCATT written exams. We are the experts in taking military and field experienced personnel and helping them attain their A&P license and Inspection Authorization (IA) Certification.
About the Owner
Thomas Black, the Founder, Owner and CEO of T Black Aviation, served in the Air Force for 23 years, 2 months, and 1 day. He is a retired combat veteran who has served in several conflicts throughout the world and has many years experience in both the maintenance and flying of various aircraft. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Aeronautical Science from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. He’s been teaching these courses for over 28 years and is an expert at helping people to achieve their goal.
Airframe & Powerplant Course History
Thomas originally created the Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) course in the early 90’s while attaining his own A&P certification in the USAF. The course was specifically designed to help military members achieve their goal of becoming a certified Airframe and Powerplant mechanic. Thomas contracted his services at the local Air Force Base which he was stationed (Cannon AFB, Clovis NM). While deployed to various overseas locations and combat zones, he set up training centers to help fellow deployed military members get their Airframe and Powerplant Certification.
After moving to Clearwater in 2007, Thomas implemented his 2–Week A&P Certification course at National Aviation Academy (NAA). Thomas continued to teach his course until January 2010, when he decided to relocate the course to his new facility at St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport (KPIE). His most recent educational consultant work was in 2011 for Central Florida Aerospace Academy (CFAA), for which he helped develop and implement CFAA’s FAA Part 147 Airframe and Powerplant program.
