Flight Instructor Requirements

61.183 Eligibility Requirements

Be at least 18 yrs of age

Be able to read , write and speak the English language

Have a 2^nd class (for hire or compensation) or 3rd class medical

Hold either a commercial or airline transport pilot certificate with an aircraft category and class  rating that is appropriate to the instructor rating sought

Hold an instrument rating with privileges appropriate to the instructor rating sought

Receive the appropriate ground training

61.187 Flight Proficiency

15 hours pilot in command in aircraft appropriate to rating sought
